Anxiety can be defined as a feeling of disaster constantly threatening to unfold. It also can be a feeling that you can't cope with daily pressures of life. If anxiety continues it can result in depression. There are herbal remedies available that may help with the symptoms brought about by anxiety. Kava Kava This plant extract will promote sleep and treat anxiety. The recommended dose is 250mg every day with food. For insomnia, you can take up to six capsules but the remedy is not to be used on a long term basis
Valerian This herb treats sleeplessness and can be used as a sedative or a painkiller. You should not take it before you sleep because it may cause a panic attack. The recommended dose is 150mg during the day, three times daily. If you have insomnia, 150mg should be taken about 45 minutes before you go to bed. You may be able to increase the amount to 600 mg.
A list of effective anxiety herbal remedies
Ashwaganda is a herb used in Ayurvedic medicine, it works as a strengthening tonic. Take one capsule or half a teaspoon of tincture twice daily.
Borage juice works in the glandular system. The recommended dose is one tablespoon of juice in water every day for two weeks.
Bugleweed soothes the nerves. To take this herb, make an infusion with one cup of hot water and one teaspoon of bugleweed.
California poppy can be used as a tranquilizer. Use half a teaspoon of tincture or take two capsules 3 to four times a day.
Catnip will soothe the upset stomach. The herb is taken as an infusion of one pint boiled water to one ounce of catnip.
Chamomile will relieve an upset stomach. Bring one ounce of chamomile blossoms and one pint of water to a boil. Leave it to boil for fifteen minutes, strain the liquid and add honey.
Fennel will also help your stomach. It is taken in the form of a tea.
Feverfew helps those suffering from migraines. Make an infusion of one ounce feverfew to one pint of water brought to a boil.
Ginseng gives you a boost of energy. Mix one teaspoon of royal jelly into a cup of ginseng tea and drink this mixture twice every day.
Meadowsweet will help relieve headaches. You can drink it in tea form or drink the extract.
Passionflower helps with insomnia or nervous tension. Use half a teaspoon of the herb to one cup of water just boiled. Take this tea every 3 to four hours.
Skullcap can relieve nerviness. Combine one cup water with one teaspoon of skullcap and boil the mixture for ten minutes.
